Ingredients:

¼ cup butter
5 medium white onions, thinly sliced
1 (32-ounce) container chicken broth
2 cans beef consommé
¼ cup dry white whine
3 fresh thyme sprigs
2 fresh parsley sprigs
Salt and pepper to taste
6 French baguette slices (3/4-inch-thick)
6 Swiss cheese slices
